 Who?

• Dionisia Gonçalves Pinto, better known as Nisia Floresta, was born on October 12, 1810 and unfortunately died. on April 24, 1885, at the age of 74.

What/How ?

• Nisia was a Brazilian educator, writer an Poet First feminist education in Brazil, defender of abolitionist, republican and mainly feminist ideals, innovative, positions of publican I time, influenced Brazilian educational practice, breaking the limits of the social place destined for women. Dedicted works and teachings on the female condition and was considered a pioneer of feminism in Brazil, in addition to denouncing injustices against female slaves and Brazilian indigenous women.

Impacts

• She was the first female figure to publish texts in newspapers. Nísia also coordinated a school for girls in the city of Rio de Janeiro and wrote several works in defense of the rights of women and slaves.
